The Ultimate Guide to Windows Keyboard Shortcuts

If you're like me, you probably spend a lot of time on your computer. And if you're like me, you probably hate using the mouse. It's slow, it's clumsy, and it makes your wrist hurt. That's why I love keyboard shortcuts. They make everything faster and easier. And Windows 10/11 has some of the best keyboard shortcuts ever.

In this article, I'll share with you some of my favorite Windows 10/11 keyboard shortcuts that will save you time and make you more productive. Whether you want to switch between apps, take screenshots, or open the emoji panel, there's a shortcut for that. Let's get started!

Windows Keyboard Shortcuts

Switch between apps

One of the most common tasks on a computer is switching between different apps. You could use the mouse and click on the taskbar icons, but that's boring and slow. Instead, use these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Alt + Tab: This will show you a preview of all your open apps and let you switch to any of them by pressing Tab repeatedly until you reach the one you want.
  • Ctrl + Alt + Tab: This will do the same thing as Alt + Tab, but it will keep the preview open even if you release the keys. You can then use the arrow keys or the mouse to select an app.
  • Windows + Tab: This will open the Task View, which shows you all your open apps and virtual desktops. You can use the arrow keys or the mouse to select an app or a desktop.

Take screenshots

Sometimes you want to capture what's on your screen and share it with someone else. Maybe you want to show off your high score in a game, report a bug in a software, or just make a meme. Whatever the reason, Windows 10/11 has some handy keyboard shortcuts for taking screenshots:

  • PrtScn: This will copy your entire screen to the clipboard. You can then paste it into any app that supports images, such as Paint or Word.
  • Windows + PrtScn: This will save your entire screen as an image file in your Pictures folder under Screenshots.
  • Alt + PrtScn: This will copy only the active window to the clipboard.
  • Windows + Shift + S: This will let you select a portion of your screen to copy to the clipboard using a snipping tool.

Open the emoji panel

Emojis are everywhere these days. They're fun, they're expressive, and they're easy to use. But did you know that Windows 10/11 has a built-in emoji panel that lets you access hundreds of emojis with just a few keystrokes? Here's how:

  • Windows + . (period): This will open the emoji panel on any app that supports text input. You can then browse through different categories of emojis using the mouse or the arrow keys.
  • Windows + ; (semicolon): This will do the same thing as Windows + . (period).

That's it for now! I hope you enjoyed this article and learned some new keyboard shortcuts that will make your life easier on Windows 10/11.
